Following are copies of three letters written by Maharishi in 1959, 1961 and 1963 to Helen and Charlie Lutes; Maharishi’s primary aides and collaborators who helped lay the foundation to spread Maharishi’s message of spiritually regenerating the world through the practice of Transcendental Meditation.

These letters (from a collection of twenty-four) are historical documents which provide an insight into Maharishi’s thinking, planning and implementation of the beginning framework for what was to become, over a span of fifty years, a highly successful worldwide spiritual regeneration movement, with forty thousand TM teachers and a multi-billion dollar complex of schools, universities, TV stations, health clinics and over one thousand Transcendental Meditation centers.

Charlie took many trips to various parts of the world with Maharishi. Charlie was Maharishi's confidant, business advisor and primary contact person in the United States. Charlie and Helen continued to serve Maharishi’s mission throughout their lives.

In later years, when reflecting upon the early days of his Movement, Maharishi lovingly and gratefully referred to Helen and Charlie as “founding pillars” of his TM Movement, and he called them “permanent members of his immediate family.” Maharishi said, "Charlie was very good to me."
